Frankston Pines finally had some good news, something they hope to have more of, with the council voting to replace the current grandstand, if pulled down, with a new $100,000 one. The club was extremely worried that the council was going to pull the grandstand down without replacing it so at the Casey Cup final last night there was a bit of a buzz regarding it.
New Metro Central club St Kilda again has opened a few eyes when they became the first Metro club to knock out a State League club in the FFV State Knockout Cup. With State Legaue 2 club FC Clifton Hill five divisions higher in the FFV league structure, many would have felt that gap was just too big for the new club to overcome, but it was St Kilda that lead into halftime 2 – 0 and then held of Clifton Hill in the second half to win 2 – 1. Next up for St Kilda is another State League 2 club Malvern City.
The Metro SE division is now down to 12 teams with the withdrawal of Cardinia United. This now means the division has done away with the bye and doing away with the possibility of teams not playing each other twice. Still, how does a big place like Pakenham not yet have a senior team to represent the area amazes me.
Cobram Victory has updated their website with a version using courtesy of SportingPulse .
