James Verlander Charity Roundup

The 10th anniversary of the James Verlander Charity Shield took place last Sunday at Seaford United. Here are the results.

Intercontinental Cup.

Peninsula Celebrities continued their %100 record in winning trophies as they defeated the previous two time winners Montrose Legends. The game finished 0 – 0 and it was Peninsula Celebrities that won out on the day when penalty kicks decided the winner on the day.

Rainbow Foundation Cup

Great game was put on by the women’s division as it took the last kick of the match for Hampton Park United Sparrow to overcome a spirited effort by the Rosebud team. With scores locked at 0 – 0 at half time, Rosebud came out firing in the second half and took a well deserve lead. But Hampton Park is never out of any contest and came back from a goal down to win 2 – 1. A fantastic effort by both clubs.

James Verlander Charity Shield

Bayswater Strikers streak of five JV Shields can to an abrupt end with Mornington winning the shield for the first time in the clubs history and at their first attempt also. Bayswater Strikers took the lead early in the second half with a converted penalty kick, but Mornington was not going to be denied on this day as they quickly strike back twice and then kept the scoreline at 2 – 1 to the end.

The Bayside FA would very much want to thanks all those involved, from the refs, the donations that will be given towards Challenge, Paul Seeley for all his fantastic photos, to those who got involved in the end of day auctions and to the host club Seaford United and to all those who attended.
